Brexit and Living in Kefalonia
For those living in Kefalonia who have residency are permitted to stay. For those already residents in Kefalonia there will be no change to your rights to work, access healthcare, study and collect your UK pension if you have one. This is due to the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement which will last until the 31st December 2020.

Non Greek citizens living in Kefalonia will be required to obtain a new biometric residency permit. The requirements for this are listed below.

After December 2021 - Those wishing to move to Kefalonia, you can still move to Kefalonia freely but will need to apply for a biometric residency permit at the police station. You will need to have passport photos, a Greek bank account, proof of your house purchase and will require your finger prints to be taken.

Those wishing to move to Kefalonia you will need to apply for a residency permit, which is fairly easy process. For those wishing to purchase property in Kefalonia over €250,00 you automatically qualify for a 'Golden Visa'. Brexit will not change the rules regarding property ownership, rent, taxation and shared ownership. Obtaining a Residency Permit in kefalonia
To obtain a Residence Permit in Kefalonia, which currently does not require renewal, you will need the following:
1. A colour photocopy of your passport and your passport.
2. Four passport style photographs of yourself.
3. An address of where you are staying in Kefalonia at the time of the application.
4. Proof of health insurance cover (EU Health Card or Greek health insurance)
