Xi beach Kefalonia is famous for its stunning fine red sands, dramatic therapeutic clay cliffs and shallow calm waters. Although many people call the beach X-I as it looks, Greeks pronounce this as ks-ee.
Facilities
There is a large selection of excellent tavernas, trendy sea front restaurants and relaxing beach bars that operate in the summer season. You can also find a convenience store and ATM machine a short walk from the beach. There are also a wide variety of water sports offered on Xi beach for the more adventurous.
Clay Spa
The long stretch of clay cliffs extend the entire length of Xi beach. Locals and tourists alike, come to utilise the therapeutic properties of the clay as a 'free spa treatment'. Pieces of clay are taken from the floor around the base of the cliffs and rinsed in the sea to soften the clay. The liquid top layer of the clay is then rubbed on the skin, repeating the process of submerging the clay piece, until the body is covered. The clay is then left to 'set' and dry after this the clay can then be rinsed off in the sea.
Xi beach has been voted one of the top 20 most beautiful & must see beaches in the world by both Veltravel (2014) and Travel & Leisure magazine (2016). This large plot with panoramic sea and mountain views & easy access to the beach would make an exceptional investment for tourist accommodation.
Getting to Xi beach
There is a daily local bus service which runs from Lixouri town centre to Xi beach. Lixouri bus station is located here. From the capital of Kefalonia Argostoli, Lixouri is a pleasant 20 minutes ferry journey from Argostoli port to the port of Lixouri and offers the chance of some dolphin spotting.
